Manufacturing
A few steps are generally involved in the synthesis process: first, premium green tea leaves are chosen, and they are then processed by rolling, crushing, and wilting them in a way that makes extraction easier. To prevent browning, there may be a controlled oxidation step that comes next. Different techniques, including water or solvents, are applied to the processed leaves to extract the desired green tea compound, particularly epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG). After that, the extract is concentrated to eliminate any remaining solvent or water content and dried until it becomes a powder. Ultimately, the extract undergoes additional processing by EGCG content requirements of 95% and quality standards before being packaged and distributed to customers.
Applications
The active ingredients in one concentrated green tea extract capsule are equivalent to those in one standard cup of tea. Green tea extract also seems to improve exercise performance. The liquid extract can be diluted with water, but the powder can be mixed into smoothies. Still, it tastes strong. Green tea extract comes in three different forms: liquid, powder, and capsule. The recommended daily dosage of 250–500 mg should ideally be taken with food. Above this point, things might get dangerous.
Geographical Specifications
The primary tropical and temperate regions of Asia where green tea is grown are China, India, Sri Lanka, and Japan. The plant is evergreen. It is also grown in a few countries in Africa and South America. The two primary Camellia sinensis varieties are Camellia sinensis assamica and Camellia sinensis sinensis.
