Garcinia extract is sourced from the ripe rind of harvested Garcinia cambogia fruit, meticulously chosen for quality. Following a thorough washing, the fruits undergo sun-drying or specialized drying methods to reduce moisture and boost active compound concentration. The dried rind then undergoes extraction using solvents like ethanol or water to isolate the bioactive compound. The resulting solution is concentrated, enhancing the potency, and undergoes filtration to ensure purity. The final extract is often standardized to 70% active compounds before packaging for use in various products.

Applications

Due to its sharp, sour flavor, the dried and smoked rind of the Garcinia cambogia fruit is frequently used as a food preservative as well as a spice and flavoring, particularly in fish curries. Ayurvedic medicine has also employed fruit rinds to treat a variety of ailments. 

Morphological Specifications

The Fruit of the Garcinia gummi-gutta plant is grown in South and Southeast Asia. Clusiaceae is a family of plants that includes several closely related species of Garcinia, including Garcinia gummi-gutta. The fruit of G. gummi-gutta and related species ranges in size from that of an orange to that of a grapefruit, with thin skin and deep vertical lobes; G. gummi-gutta resembles a small yellowish, greenish, or occasionally reddish pumpkin. There can be wide color variations. The rinds turn dark brown or black after being dried and cured to be stored and extracted.
